For absolute beginners to those runners wanting to improve their mile times, this course is for anyone 10 years and older that wants to put a little spring in their step this spring. Runners will have 9 weeks to train with RRCA certified coach and local running mom, Monica, to run the UCONN 5k race on June 1st (race registration separate: not included in class fee). This course offers a mix of walking, running and yoga for runners to prepare to complete a 5k and feel their absolute best inside and out!Who Can Join: The program is designed for runners 10 years and older. Families, friends and running buddies are encouraged to register together! This program is a great way to keep accountable and stay on track with new friends. Please note, group training may include runs on the Farmington River Trail and around Mills Pond Park. While "buddy running" will be encouraged there will be instances when runners will not be directly supervised by the instructor. Runners may be on their own during some instances of the running program.

Welcome to Music with Miss Jean!This guitar led sing-along class consists of music and activities that keep everybody moving. Have fun playing instruments, jumping to the rhythms and learning some musical games. This class gets the kids dancing and helps them burn off some energy for nap time. Music with Miss Jean is not only a Canton community favorite, however it is also a great environment for toddlers to learn to play with one another. Spring Session IDates: Wed. 5/8 to 6/12 (No Class 5/29)Time: 9:30am-10:30amLocation: Mills Pond ParkFee: $70 R / $75 NRWeather Note: The location for all Music with Miss Jean classes will be dependent on the weather. The primary location for the early fall will be outside at Mills Pond Park. The rain/cold weather location for all Music with Miss Jean classes will be the Parks & Recreation Room at the Canton Community Center.

Then sign up for Beginner Pickleball – Part II/Round Robin Play. The first 20-30 minutes we will work on some skills and the rest of the session will be coached round robin play. Stay longer on your own to continue your games, if you’d like. People who sign up for this session should have already taken a beginner pickleball class or have equivalent skills. Swim LessonsIt is recommended that even if a particular class is full to still register to be on the wait list as we may be able to open the classes to more swimmers. You will not be charged if you register on the wait list, only when participant is admitted into the class. • Session is 8 weeks long meeting on Saturdays• Lessons are held rain or shine; in the event of a lighting/thunder storm or any other unsafe swimming conditions (i.e heavy rain) class will be cancelled. Canton Parks & Rec makes every effort to hold class, but safety is the top priority.  Cancellation notifications will be done via email. Canton Parks and Recreation Department is seeking responsible, outgoing, 12-15 year olds interested in working with swim lesson instructors and children at Mills Pond Pool. Swim Instructor Aides will assist certified instructors with planning and leading swim lessons throughout the summer. Interested individuals are required to register for the Swim Instructor Aide course scheduled for Sunday, June 16th. This class is designed to give participants a sneak peek into what it takes to become a great swim instructor. All participants will learn how to plan a lesson, tips, and techniques that it takes to be a hold a successful swim lesson. Students that are successful in the swim instructor aide class will be invited to be scheduled for swim lesson sessions to assist in teaching. A great volunteer experience - good for a resume and a lot of fun!

In this introduction to the game, you will learn how to play pickleball, including safety, proper grip, positioning, ground strokes, serves, returns, lobs, dinking, scoring and game strategy. This course is geared to beginners to the sport.Advanced Beginner Pickleball/ Round Robin PlayWant to build on your beginner pickleball skills and get some games in too? Then sign up for Beginner Pickleball – Part II/Round Robin Play. The first 20-30 minutes we will work on some skills and the rest of the session will be coached round robin play. Welcome to Explorers Day Camp 2024!Explorers Day Camp is the perfect opportunity for youth to make new friends, participate in a variety of activities and create memories that last a lifetime! This summer camp includes a variety of outdoor activities at the park, weekly entertainer visits and daily swim time in Mills Pond Pool (weather permitting). General InformationExplorers Day Camp is held Monday-Friday from 9:00am to 4:00pm at Mills Pond Park. PM Care is offered from 4:00pm to 5:30pm daily for an additional fee. In the event of bad weather or extreme heat, camp is held indoors at the Canton Community Center at 40 Dyer Ave. To remain updated on any changes in the location of camp, please download the Remind App and join the Explorers Day Camp 2024 class (class code: @expcamp24). The Remind App is the quickest and easiest form of communication between our staff and parents/guardians.For more information about Explorers Day Camp, including operations and rules of conduct, please see the "Explorers Day Camp Parent Handbook 2024" linked below. Swim LessonsIt is recommended that even if a particular class is full to still register to be on the wait list as we may be able to open the classes to more swimmers. You will not be charged if you register on the wait list, only when participant is admitted into the class. • Each session is 2 weeks long meeting Monday-Friday• Lessons are held rain or shine; in the event of a lighting/thunder storm or any other unsafe swimming conditions (i.e heavy rain) class will be cancelled. Canton Parks & Rec makes every effort to hold class, but safety is the top priority.  Cancellation notifications will be done via email. Welcome to Explorers Day Camp 2024!Explorers Day Camp is the perfect opportunity for youth to make new friends, participate in a variety of activities and create memories that last a lifetime! This summer camp includes a variety of outdoor activities at the park, weekly entertainer visits and daily swim time in Mills Pond Pool (weather permitting). General InformationExplorers Day Camp is held Monday-Friday from 9:00am to 4:00pm at Mills Pond Park. Each registration scores you 2 pillar candles (handcrafted by Kelly herself), so grab a pal, partner, kiddo, sibling, or even fly solo if you're feeling extra artsy! Let's paint the town... or rather, paint those candles!The cost of one registration includes 2 pillar candles - you do not need to register twice if you are bringing a partner.Children ages 8-14 must be accompanied by an adult. All Dane Good products are handmade with clean, non-toxic ingredients. Dane Good donates a portion of all sales to a pet rescue organization.
